Shortly after its official re-opening in January 2022, Paul Lincoln writes on Exchange Square for the Landscape Institute Journal. The 1.5-acre park, formerly a forlorn ‘office park’, is reimagined as an impressive monument to green infrastructure and public wellbeing.

Working with horticultural specialists FFLO, DSDHA aimed to produce a place that works independently from its office-estate surroundings and is attractive to visitors and local residents.

The redevelopment of the square has also significantly increased the biodiversity of the area and is now one of the largest green spaces in the City of London. In a part of the city so well-known for its corporate high-rise developments, investment in meaningful landscapes that cater to moments of respite is a welcome sight.

Exchange Square has since been shortlisted for many awards recognising its achievements in landscape design.
