1/1Rising Star: Poppy Levinson

Architecture and Disability activist, Poppy Levinson, has been selected as one of RIBAJ’s Rising Stars for the 2024 cohort. Since joining DSDHA in 2022, Levinson has co-authored Retrofitting for Cultural Infrastructure as part of the Future Observatory Policy Fellowship, in partnership with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, contributed to the Edgware Road Placemaking Strategy and taught alongside co-founding Director Deborah Saunt at the London School of Architecture’s Design Think Tank. She is also a fundraiser and course lead for The DisOrdinary Architecture Project’s Architecture Beyond, a foundation course taught entirely by blind and visually impaired people.

Levinson’s advocacy for disability and accessibility in design resonates beyond architectural education and is vitally important to an evolving discipline that needs to embrace all. DSDHA congratulates Poppy on this prestigious award and keenly anticipates supporting and celebrating her future endeavours.

The RIBA Rising Star Awards spotlights extraordinary young practitioners in the field of architecture and how they are going beyond their typical role.
