A New Vision for the LSA
When rethinking the LSA as a ‘civic’ agent, we believe our education as architects should be both community-embedded and engaged in making change, through co-research and co-design, live projects and active campaigns, as well as generating knowledge to contribute to a broader ecosystem involving students, built environment professionals, local communities and other Hackney organisations. Although locally based, this project connects to radical thinking and practice globally.
PROJECT AIMS
- Develop a relationship with a wide diversity of stakeholders from across the communities of Hackney
- Become active citizens working beyond 6 Orsman Road to test new methods, relationships and measures of success for architecture as political, ecological, social and spatial research
- Re-prioritise space for mutual aid and community empowerment
- Provide democratic open spaces for citizens of Hackney
- Explore how the LSA could ‘do more’ and operate with civic ambition
