Práctica Arqitectónica IV

1/9A Focus for Architects

DSDHA are pleased to contribute to the fourth iteration of Práctica Arquitectónica, coordinated by Daniel Gimeno and Miguel Guitart, and be included in a collection of architects reflecting on architecture's creative processes.

'A Focus for Architects' explores DSDHA's grounded research techniques that aim to create spaces and places that are universally welcoming in the dynamic, shifting contexts of the city. Aiming to merge the extremes of architecture's creative operations - ideas with mundanity, fragility with desire, infrastructure with intimacy - we suggest a vision for the evolving field of architecture that tempers the discipline's tendency to idealise with grounded ordinariness.

Reading three of DSDHA's projects - Smithson Plaza, Alex Monroe Workshop, and the West End Projects - as frameworks for looking beyond immediate briefs and catering to future use, 'A Focus for Architects' speaks of the architect's role in recognising, engaging and communicating accessibility within architecture, and champions wider public participation in the discipline.
