Practical Steps for Future-Proofing our Streets
New London Architecture Breakfast Talk
Amidst the breakout of COVID-19, with new government-mandated distancing and isolation, DSDHA Director Deborah Saunt answers questions from Peter Murray, co-founder of New London Architecture (NLA), on public space and the prioritisation of pedestrians and cyclists. Deborah predicts the impact of the pandemic on the urgent need for public spaces and the tactics employed in their delivery, as well as a broader analysis of the role of public space within increasingly dense developments.
They also discuss DSDHA’s research ‘Sharing the Beautiful Everyday Journey’, undertaken as part of the 2016 Built Environment Research Fellowship, awarded by the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851, in which the practice investigated mobility in London
NLA Breakfast Talks bring together professionals working in architecture and the built environment to discuss topical issues and challenges facing the discipline. This talk seeks to hear about the practical interventions being made to improve streets in a period of fast technological change.
