Image Overview

DSDHA have designed and delivered an office-led mixed-use development within the Elder Street Conservation Area for British Land. The building forms part of a wider Masterplan alongside the work of AHMM, Stanton Williams and Morris+Company. DSDHA’s scheme has given new life to an historic building dating back to 1904: retaining, refurbishing and extending a locally listed building known as the Arts and Crafts Building, together with a new office building on Blossom Street.

The building carefully respects the historic scale and character of the site’s sensitive context. The existing building has been restored and extended to the courtyard side, creating greater flexibility for the office levels above and increasing permeability for the historic pub to extend out to a new external courtyard: Blossom Yard.

The new yard has purposefully been designed with distinct elevations to the four surrounding buildings referencing the diversity of character already present in the development’s historic context. The new building at 16 Blossom Street responds to the scale and vertical proportion of the adjacent historic warehouses, creating a contemporary warehouse aesthetic.
